When creating Kundalini, the owners brought to life a seductive and luxurious hotel design that seamlessly incorporates a system of sustainability. A first in rural Ecuador.
We strive to always operate in harmony with our natural surroundings.
To ensure the well-being of our guests and staff, and to positively impact our local communities.
At Kundalini we embrace a sustainable lifestyle. Find out what smart luxury means to us.
sustainable practices
Ecological cleaning products
Being in front of the sea, we like to keep things natural.
Attention! Flammable! Toxic! With labels like these on many conventional cleaning products, going 100% organic was a no-brainer for us. The fully biodegradable products we use contain no hazardous chemicals, so they don't negatively affect our ecosystems or us.
Control of water consumption in washing sheets and towels
Towels and sheets do not need to be washed every day. We invite our guests to raise awareness about the world's daily water consumption so that they are part of our preservation campaign.
Hotel Best Practices
At Kundalini, we invest in green technology and alwayswe source products in line with our philosophy. These are some of the ways we keep our operations efficient and sustainable.
green gardening
An intelligent solution to irrigate our leafy land. Kundalini's laundry uses 12 m3 of water per day, all this water is treated and filtered to be reused in our gardens. To alleviate the demand for fresh water, we also make good use of our wastewater by purifying it on-site using a special biological system,
which makes them completely safe and suitable for watering our gardens and palm trees.
daily sustainability
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle: Three Rules to Live By
These 3 R's are the pillars of waste management at Kundalini. We reduce waste wherever possible, working with our suppliers to reduce unnecessary packaging and calculating exactly how much food we need for the restaurant. And everything that can be recycled or reused always is. Leftovers from our restaurant, for example, are composted in the restaurant itself and all the plastics we use are recycled and sold to generate funds for beach clean-up projects.
zero plastic
We have succeeded in replacing single-use plastic straws
use for avocado sorbets manufactured in Ecuador.
They are compostable, which helps us reduce the amount of non-recyclable waste produced at the resort. Our goal is to eliminate single-use plastics from our complex
teak wood
Responsible furniture design.
From our luxurious king-size beds to our restaurant tables, we've used a lot of teak throughout the resort. Teak wood grows rapidly and is considered a sustainable building material. It requires no wood finishes or harsh chemicals, helping us keep our furniture as natural as possible.
awards

nature conservation
Nature conservation is an integral part of our sustainable philosophy. Located on the most visited beach in Ecuador, we feel a strong duty towards our natural surroundings and the environment. Learn how we do it.
A healthy nature is a beautiful nature. Montañita has 2 faces, that of the party and that of surfing, adventure and nature, we promote the second, since we have been blessed with a
incredible beach, with lush green gardens surrounding us, incredible waves and a
local people who are part of our family who will make you live an unforgettable experience.

We support local entities that have been created to ensure that our beaches remain clean.
We organize seminars in the community and in local schools to teach how to keep our ecosystems healthy and carry out weekly beach cleanups.

We invite you to visit our nearby national parks to enjoy nature in
its purest state. Los Frailes beach in the Machalilla National Park is the favorite and La Isla del Pelado in the Cope reserve.
At Kundalini, we believe that the concept of "local" is the key to sustainable hospitality. That is why we hire 100% local staff and buy local products, making sure that our community and our natural environment are well cared for.
Meet the Kundalini family and connect with the local community. We exclusively hire Ecuadorian personnel from the area, we invest a lot in their training and professional development. Many hotels in the area lay off a high percentage of their staff during the off-season, we provide our staff with year-round employment and many opportunities for growth.
LOCAL PRODUCTS
In Kundalini, we make a conscious effort
to stock up on as many products as possible close to home. Much of the food in our restaurant comes from around the corner and the restobar is packed with local snacks.
Guests can also enjoy Ecuadorian eucalyptus in the spa's steam room and bath amenities developed by Ecuadorian communities. At the design level, the toquilla straw decoration, banana tree fabrics and the wood veneers all come from local weavers in the area.
